The Juneteenth Celebration at HayGood Manor in Abbeville, SC, is set for June 19th and aims to educate and foster connections among all ethnic groups in the community. This vibrant event, which highlights the contributions of Black and Native Americans who fought as Confederates, underscores the importance of freedom, liberation, and inclusivity for everyone. Tickets, on sale from Friday, June 6th, are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12.
The event will feature a Meet & Greet with community leaders, historians, and performers, a diverse lineup of speakers including historians, reenactors, and curators, and various vendors showcasing local businesses and events. Attendees can explore historical tours of HayGood Manor, Burt Stark Mansion, McGowan House, and the Abbeville Museum and Public Library. Following the tours, guests will enjoy a tasting of international cuisines, networking opportunities, and additional vendor displays.
Highlighted speakers include Tom Howie and Members discussing the 250th anniversary history, Jean Hutchinson with historical reenactments, Dr. Lemuel & Keis Patterson, renowned Black Historians, Blaque Butterfly with a special performance, Selena Goodwin-Hay, the owner and curator of HayGood Manor, Gregory Newson, an expert on Black & Native American Confederate history, and Bill Rogers, an Abbeville Historian. Additionally, artists like Earl Majette will display their artwork and books, sharing the stories behind their creations. This Juneteenth celebration promises a meaningful and engaging day filled with education, culture, and community spirit.

This annual event aimed to raise funds and support for the Abbeville Area Medical Center. It featured live entertainment by Nicole Quinn, heavy hors d’oeuvres from Sips on the Square, and both silent and live auctions. Attendees had the chance to win items such as a piece of jewelry from The Jeweler’s Bench and a Longhorn Personal Safe from Hunters Headquarters. Tickets were $75.00, with the option to participate in the auctions online. Raffle tickets were also available for purchase. The event promised a night of fun, entertainment, and community fellowship.
